Def Jam fight in New York was the game to play back then because back in 2003 when Def Jam Vendetta came out it was a huge success and because of that they immediately started production on the follow up and good God was this a great follow up. No longer were there the cliche wrestling WWE.Style fighting. They made this a raw, bloody, no holds bar street fighting game. With the roster going from 40 to 75 fighters and having some more well known hip hop artists, this was in no doubt one of the best fighting games of 2004.

Unlike the story mode, a vendetta, you get to actually create your own character in this game. You guys are no longer a mute.Although he doesn't talk that much in the game, it is still nice to be able to hear you guys speak every once in a while. I can take care of myself. So the essence of the story is you break D Bob out of the police car that was sending him to prison From the events of the last game. He appreciates that so much that he recruits you and has you fighting for a screw. You go round clubs and bars to take over locations owned by the rival crew leader.Crowe played by Snoop Dogg.
The story is pretty cool. There are plenty of cut scenes and driving points in the game to keep you playing. The main cast for the story are played by people like Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Sticky Fingers, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, and Demob voiced by Christopher Judge. You'll see some people in the game like Iced Tea, Ludacris, Red Men, and people who don't even make it because they like.Danny Trejo At some point in the beginning of the game, you get to choose who you want your girlfriend to be.

You have a choice between five women, and if you're anything like me, you always go with little Kim. But thankfully this is little Kim before she looks like she got stung by Bee. But moving on, even Carmen Electra's in this game now. Whoever your current girlfriend is at the time, you get to choose if you want Common Electric to be your new girlfriend.Or keep your current one. You have them Duke it out. Whoever wins that fight is your current girlfriend.

The fighting mechanics are surprisingly, really good. You get to choose from three out of five fighting styles for your character. Kickboxing, street fighting, martial arts, wrestling in submissions I always start off with kickboxing and then lead up to adding street fighting and martial arts next.The compost. You can create pretty fun Now this is a Mortal Kombat. It doesn't get too complicated and honestly I think anybody can pick this game up and get the hang of it pretty quickly Now.
The only thing I have an issue with is that when you start the story mode, you're greeted with a quick tutorial. Now this will teach you the very basic fundamentals of the video game striking, grabbing, and blocking in the Blaze mode.Now this can be helpful if you've never played a fighting game before, but there are just somethings in this game that they just simply do not tell you about. Like if an enemy grapples you can immediately counter attack and get them off of you. Or if they strike, you can counter that too with an attack. Or if you thought that could bring your Blazemeter up. Now I know they didn't want to overcomplicate the tutorial.For some players, and they had the mindset to let you just discover how to do certain things overtime, that's fine, I just wish they gave you an option to go into more of the actual hidden things that you could do. So with the inclusion of adding more fighters, which I'll get into in a second, they added a lot more locations to fight in also, and with these locations can come with some interesting added gameplay because the environment could be destructible.

Like 1 mission in the story as you get to fight Busta Rhymes one-on-one. Come on, do you really want to fight this guy? This man is 20 against Michael Myers for Christ sakes Perdue to be Michael Myers all player Michael Myers. You're gonna ruin the holder.Good, but when you fight, you have both of your rides in the background and you can use the other opponent's ride as a weapon. If you damage the other opponents right enough it can become total and that's the end of the fight. Yeah. If you win the fight, you just better hope your insurance covers this now.
The fighters in this game have really been expanded upon. You go from people in the last game like Ludacris.Method Man, Redman, Ghost Face, Killah, Nori, Scarface, Joe Budden. When you get to fight for New York, now you have people like Exhibits, Snoop Dogg, Little Kim, Flava, Flav, Elephant Man and Sean Paul. The list goes on. I'm not going to be able to get through all of them, but it's a great roster of fighters, Grand or some fighters in this game, that blew my mind.Or even usable like the sketch artist in the beginning of the game who literally asked for 5 seconds of screen time. Like why is she even a fighter in this game? Why now?

There are some fighters in the game, You have to redeem points to unlock them, and how you earn those points are just by fighting in any of the modes that you have accessible to you. You earn five points for every fighter you defeat, so that's why if you're really trying to rack up points fast then.Feel free from match wishes U-verse three other computers and you'll get 15 points per match like. Here is a good example. I'll play Sean Paul and my favourite location, the Subway. Now the best way to get these points.Oh yeah, you can die in this game.
Some locations actually give you the ability to kill your opponent. You can toss them into fire and throw them out of a window and get hit by a train.It's pretty fun stuff. Now the only other thing I have an issue with this game is how they really try to stretch out the story mode by making you fight the same people over and over and over again.
The story mode isn't that long as it is anyway, so I understand why they did it, but it could just be very repetitive overtime. So just like in Vendetta, they bring back the blaze and moves.You activate them by getting your blazing metre all the way up and flicking the right stick in any direction. Once activated, grab your opponent and then flick the right stick in your preferred direction. And wash the madness ensue.

The blazing moves can be pretty damn brutal too. They're pretty much this version of fatalities, but unless they are in the red you aren't going to be able to finish the fight this way. It is a good way to turn the tide in the fight if you are losing pretty badly though. But guys, if you are a fan of hip hop and want a new fighting game to play, do not hesitate to pull out your old game consoles.Out of the closet and pick this game up. Granted, good luck trying to find this game at a reasonable price, but this game did so much and it's honestly going to go down as a classic. Hopefully one day we'll get a true sequel to this game, unlike Icon, or at least get an HD remake. But maybe one day.Scott.
